April 11, 2019 By Paul Swider
Just in case you did not hear the news yesterday, Microsoft announced the availability of the Release Candidate for Windows Server 2012 for customers to download and evaluate. For more information on Microsoft’s cloud-optimized OS please visit the Window Server blog.
After looking at the announcement, here are several key benefits that are being discussed as a part of this release:
1. Windows Server 2012 is focused on extending virtualization with a multi-tenant infrastructure that goes beyond what we know as virtualization today.
2. This version of Windows Server will change the IT economics of storage for high availability and continuous services. It has a number of new enhancements to take advantage of automated management of services.
3. You will begin to hear Microsoft talk about “Every app on any cloud” about Windows Server 2012. It will be the broadest, most scalable and elastic web and application platform on the market, giving Microsoft customers added flexibility to build and deploy applications on-premises, in the cloud, and in a hybrid environment, using an open set of tools and frameworks.
4. Finally, many of you have heard of Microsoft’s focus on “Enabling a modern work style”. Windows Server 2012 empowers an IT organization to empower their users with access to data and applications anywhere on any device while simplifying management and maintaining security, control, and compliance of their user base.
The industry is excited about this and so am I. I hope that the next time we meet, we can talk more about you experience of downloading this release and the benefits you foresee for your organization. You can learn more about the new functionality and features on the Microsoft Server and Cloud Platform website.
