Gartner commented… ‘uncontrolled growth of Sharepoint content may result in compliance, storage and user issues’. It’s not going away: the challenge is in how to embrace and extend the core functionality to allow flexibility and therefore utility in modern enterprises.
While working with enterprise clients I have witnessed this occurrence over and over again. In future posts we will explore the concerns outlined by Gartner and explore opportunities to transform or mask the silo or sprawl affect using social networking techniques and more importantly, acknowledging we have to address SharePoint as a platform not a tool.
